The Mercantile Library’s complete set of Birds of America is made even more significant because it is comprised of plates selected by Audubon as a gift to his sister, who later sold it to the Library. The four volumes were recently conserved and rebound to insure their safety and longevity for future generations. One of the Library’s founders, James Yeatman, subscribed to the Viviparous Quadrupeds and donated the prints to the Library in 1850.
